{Mommy's Little Miracle} Halo Sleepsack

*Mommy's Obsessions received complimentary sleep sacks for review in exchange for our honest thoughts and opinions*

Today Mommy's Little Miracle is featuring a brand who makes safe sleeping a priority - HALO!

When it comes to your child, having them sleep safely is a parents priority; we strive to make sure that they're safe 110% of the time and that includes at nighttime. HALO has made it their priority to bring awareness to safe sleeping and strives to make products that not only help reduce the risk of SIDS, but ease parents piece of mind while they're little miracle(s) sleep.

Are you expecting in 2014? Did you just have your little bundle of joy? Know someone who's pregnant or trying to conceive? Then this event is for you! Alex of Mommy's Obsessions is expecting her second son this October and has created an event that is perfect for expectant mothers! Mommy's Little Miracle is a Pregnancy, Newborn/Early Infancy, and Postpartum event that will be featuring everything from maternity clothing to newborn essentials, to postpartum products you must have! We highly recommend that you bookmark the open giveaway page by clicking on the image below then adding it to your bookmarks bar! Over the next three weeks you will have the chance to enter to win some amazing prizes from items for YOU and things for your little one!

About Halo
(As from their website)

"Our founder Bill Schmid and his wife lost their first born to SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome).  From this tragedy, HALO® and its mission were born.  For nearly 20 years we’ve been dedicated to putting the health, safety and well-being of babies first.  From our bestselling SleepSack® wearable blankets that help babies sleep safely, to our ComfortLuxe® Sleepwear that helps little ones with sensitive skin sleep more comfortably, to our Healthy Hips™ Diaper Cover that can help reduce the risk of infant hip dysplasia, all we do comes from the core idea of putting babies first."

For the Mommy's Little Miracle event, HALO was generous enough to send us a sample of their Newborn SleepSack Swaddle, and a size small SleepSack for Little Boy when he arrives! I was very excited to have the opportunity to try both of these products out; Little Mister has one of the HALO Big Kids SleepSacks and absolutely loves it! When I opened them both up, the first thing I noticed was how comfortable they would be for Little Boy to sleep in, and how they would give me great peace of mind knowing that he will be cozy yet not have any loose blankets in his bassinet or crib!

The Newborn SleepSack Swaddle is made out of a cozy Muslin that keeps baby warm while still regulating their body temperatures, and the swaddle can be easily adjusted by the soft velcro panels on the side. The Newborn SleepSack Swaddle accommodates your baby from birth to approximately 3 months (about 12 pounds, 26 inches), although for safety you should discontinue use when your child shows signs of rolling over or breaking free from the wrap. The Newborn SleepSack Swaddle also adjusts so that you can swaddle your child with their arms in, or so that they may have their arms out! What I love most about the Swaddle is that HALO was thinking of parents during the design process and gave it an inverted zipper to make diaper changes simpler! No need to unswaddle your child during those late night diaper changes!

The SleepSack is an item that I can say that I truly wish I had back when Little Mister was an infant and I am thrilled that Little Boy will have. For myself, I have to sleep with blankets - at least one large comforter over me, and a cozy blanket over the top half of my body and up by my face. It's just a habit that I've had since I was a kid and it's how I am coziest. Know that's how I sleep comfortably, I've always hated the idea of not placing blankets in my child's bassinet or crib - I know that lose blankets are considered unsafe, but I hate the idea of them being cold! Thanks to HALO I can easily put away my "will the baby be cold" thoughts and sleep happily knowing that Little Boy will be toasty and safe in his SleepSack! HALO makes SleepSacks in several different fabric options, but my personal favorite is the Microfleece, especially if you have a fall or winter baby!

When it comes to safe sleeping, HALO strives to ensure that your little one is as safe as possible by continuously creating new products to ensure their safety. From SleepSacks to their newest product, the Bassinest, HALO does what they can to bring you piece of mind.

To ensure the safety of your child, HALO has compiled a list of "do's & don'ts" to share with your caregivers when it comes to safe sleeping!

(Courtesy of HALO)

ALWAYS
  • Place baby to sleep on his or her back at naptime and at night time.
  •  Room-share, but don’t bed share; the American Academy of Pediatrics recommend against bed sharing as it can lead to an increased risk for accidental suffocation.
  • Use a crib or bassinet that meets current safety standards with a firm mattress that fits snugly and is covered with only a tight-fitting crib sheet.
  • Remove all soft bedding and toys from your baby’s sleep area (this includes loose blankets, bumpers, pillows and positioners). The American Academy of Pediatrics suggests using a wearable blanket instead of loose blankets to keep your baby warm.
  • Offer a pacifier when putting baby to sleep. If breastfeeding, introduce pacifier after one month or after breastfeeding has been established.
  • Breastfeed, if possible, but when finished, put your baby back to sleep in his or her separate safe sleep area alongside your bed.
NEVER
  • Never put your baby to sleep on any soft surface (adult beds, sofas, chairs, water beds, quilts, sheep skins etc.)
  • Never dress your baby too warmly for sleep; keep room temperature 68-72 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Never allow anyone to smoke around your baby or take your baby into a room or car where someone has recently smoked.

There is also one more excited product that Halo just launched in an effort to create safer sleeping habits - the HALO™ Bassinest™ Swivel SleeperThe Bassinest has a unique dual-swivel design and is the only bassinet that moves to bring baby to mom or dad, allowing them to sleep as close as the parent wants, even right next to them in bed! What is wonderful about the Bassinest is that although it keeps baby close, it also keeps them sleeping safely in his or her own separate sleep area, which ultimately reduces the risks that are associated with bed-sharing.

The Bassinest also helps to support nursing moms with a patented retractable wall! The baby can be brought to breast without getting out of bed, and it also has a unique nursing timer alerts mom when it's time to change sides or return baby to his own sleeping space.  Mom can tend to many of her baby’s needs while still in bed for greater convenience, comfort, and a more restful sleep. The new Bassinest Swivel Sleeper is JPMA-certified and was awarded the top JPMA Innovation Award for 2013.
