#MySummerJourney With Safety 1st!

Summer is the perfect time to travel with the family, whether you're headed out for a summer vacation, a day at an amusement park, or if you're enjoying a staycation in your own "backyard"! Where ever you're headed, Safety 1st has an arrangement of products to make your travel plans a little less stressful - from car seats to umbrella strollers, Snack & Go booster seats and 1st Aid Kits!

We have teamed up with Safety 1st to document our #OurSummerJourney and to share our 2-day staycation with you!

Mr. Hunky's parents came into town last weekend and Safety 1st generously provided with the Deluxe Sit, Snack, & Go Convertible Booster and Advanced Solutions 1st Aid Kit to accompany us on our journey and make our staycation a little easier and safer!

While my in laws are in town, they always love to tour around, check out the sites, eat at new restaurants, and spend time having fun with Little Mister, so I knew that presenting them with an idea of a staycation would be the perfect summer treat for us all! From having meals at restaurants we've never tried, swimming at the local pool, discovering hidden gems in my city (such as our Children's Museum!) and driving around site seeing, I had our 2 day weekend planned out and we were all super excited to enjoy the time together, without having to spend an arm and a leg!

My in laws flew in very late on Thursday night so by the time Friday morning rolled around, we were all feeling pretty lazy and ended up getting a late start on the day. Rather than waking up early and starting our staycation in the city, we decided to "flip flop" the days and spend the first day relaxing and having fun closer to home. We started off the day and went to breakfast at a small whole in the wall diner that I had no idea was even in our Safeway shopping center! I'm super picky about my breakfast foods, so while I thought the restaurant was just okay, my in laws loved it and had a ton of fun watching Little Mister sort the sugar packets and pick at his waffle! After breakfast we stopped by the grocery store for some snack items, then headed back to my house to pack a picnic lunch and to spend the afternoon at the pool!

Once we were all tuckered out from splashing and playing at the pool, we headed back to my house to get cleaned up and to enjoy a little relaxation. We all took our showers and made some homemade (air popped) popcorn to snack on while we sat down and watched Brave! That evening we took a 20 minute drive to a town just south of us to get some delicious pizza, then headed back home to relax and get a good nights sleep before the fun began the next morning!

Rather than eating at a restaurant in the morning, we each had a "fend for yourself" style breakfast and ate whatever we pleased before getting ready and heading off to Stop 1 in our day!

Although we had been to the Children's Museum about a year and a half ago, we were all surprised and excited to see that it had since been upgraded! We spent a good portion of our day watching Little Mister play and explore, following him around from one room to another. There really is nothing better than watching the wheels in your child's head turn as learn and discover things they've never seen.

Once our stomachs started growling we took that as our cue to head out and go to lunch! Wanting to further explore and discover new places around my city, we chose a Chinese restaurant that was on the other side of town and picked a route that wasn't "normal" for me to drive to deepen our experience. Lunchtime was when the Deluxe Sit, Snack, & Go Convertible Booster seat really came in handy! I hate putting Little Mister in those dirty booster seats that restaurants offer - they always feel so unstable to me and lets just admit it....ew. The Safety 1st Booster, although should have been strapped to a chair, was perfect for Little Mister to sit in while we enjoyed our lunch. I love that the booster's back folds up so that you can easily carry and transport it, yet will provide him with that extra height until he is ready to sit like a big boy! *Please excuse the horrible lighting in this photo, the restaurant had very strange lighting and no matter what I did to this picture, I couldn't get rid of the red tone*

The Advanced Solutions 1st Aid Kit came in handy when things got a little to exciting for Little Mister and he took a tumble while skipping around. Thankfully his injury was nothing serious, but having the 1st Aid Kit in my car really gave me piece of mind and helped me to effectively clean up his Little Misters scraped nose to avoid any infection. I had really hoped I wouldn't have had any reason to tell you about the 1st Aid Kit in detail, but you never know when your little one is going to fall. Even on the funnest of vacations (or staycations!) accidents happen. The 1st Aid Kit is the perfect size to leave in the car or throw in the diaper bag for those accidental boo boo's!

The last stop on #OurSummerJourney actually happened after Grandma and Grandpa went home, but since Little Mister is only [almost] three, he was so upset that my in laws had left that he needed a little pick me up. After dropping them off at the airport, Little Mister and I headed to the movie theater for a mommy/son date and watched the new movie Planes Fire & Rescue.

Although our theater does provide small booster seats for little ones, they give me the heebie jeebies just like the restaurant ones do, so again the Deluxe Sit, Snack, & Go Convertible Booster saved the day! I was able to easily strap the booster to the theater chair and Little Mister sat there the whole time, like a champ, watching the movie! He was comfortable on his booster and it provided just the right amount of height for him to see the big screen with no problem!

We had such a fantastic time on our #OurSummerJourney and really enjoyed the weekend staycation with the help of Safety 1st! If you're planning a vacation or a staycation, we recommend you grab a Deluxe Sit, Snack, & Go Convertible Booster and Advanced Solutions 1st Aid Kit for your journey as well!
