How to Feel Fashionable During Mommyhood

Lets face it, between the added weight gain, nursing bra's, and yoga pants, I bet you are feeling pretty frumpy. Don't worry, this is totally normal! Once you've had your first child (or second, or third, or more) every penny that you have, even if the money is intended solely for you such as your birthday money or saved up pampering money, it's going to get spent on your little one. Even if you aren't intending on spending it on them, its a million times easier to walk into a store and find something that will fit them perfectly, then it will be to find something that fits you perfectly. As challenging as it is, there are ways to make yourself feel as fashionable as you were before you had your child(ren). Here are a few easy, inexpensive ideas to make yourself feel like a fashionista again!

  • Take yourself on a mini shopping spree. Spend $100 on yourself at a store where you can save big such as Ross, TJ Maxx, Marshalls, and Target.
  • Put the kids to bed early and give yourself some spa treatments. DIY a facial mask, give yourself a mani/pedi.
  • Splurge on a new bag. Even if it's a diaper bag, pick up a new bag for YOU. Petunia Pickle Bottom, and Perry Mackin are couple of my personal favs!
  • Spend a couple of hours on Pinterest pinning only outfits that catch your eye. Print out your top 3 favorite outfits and head to the mall in search of similar styles that meet your budget.
  • Match your bag with one item from your outfit! Match it with your shoes, bracelet, layering tank top, or isolate an underplayed color from your favorite dress!
  • Get dressed up for the grocery store. Who cares if it's just the grocery store, taking that few extra minutes for you will make you feel like a million bucks.
  • Wear heels when you go out to grab your mail. When else are you going to wear heels?
  • Feel good in the skin your in, even if it's not within your budget to splurge on you right now just remember, you ARE gorgeous!

  2. Good advice. Sometimes days are hectic and I feel all grimy and gross. DIY spa treatments sound especially nice!
