Sew Red Review & Giveaway

For Christmas last year, I was so excited when my mom bought me my first ever sewing machine! I couldn't wait for it to arrive and when I did I was so excited to teach myself how to sew. I've done a few projects since receiving it, but I will admit that they weren't exactly amazing. I've been so busy with the blog lately that I've hardly had time to sit down and get back into learning how to sew, but thanks to Jimmy Beans Wool's new book, Sew Red, I am now inspired to pick up some fabric and sit in front of the sewing machine!

*I received a complimentary copy of Sew Red for review in exchange of my honest thoughts and opinions*

Did you know that heart disease is the #1 killer of women? Sew Red is written by Laura Zander and is the follow up to her first book Knit Red. Both of Laura Zanders books are apart of the Stitch Red campaign and are centered around supporting and fighting for women's heart health. Sew Red features sewing and quilting projects that all have the same theme- Red! Along with finding amazing and gorgeous sewing and quilting ideas, you will also come across touching personal stories of the designers various personal experiences with heart disease, tips to staying healthy, and even recipes!

According to Laura Zander, the author of Sew Red, “Heart disease is the number one killer of women in the United States. With Sew Red, we wanted to create another book to help draw attention to this deadly illness, educate women about their risks, and empower them to lead healthier lives. We are thrilled to have the support of such an amazing lineup of designers in this gorgeous book, which celebrates women and their heart health.”

The first thing that you will notice when you open Sew Red

Sew Red includes detailed instructions on how to create your project and has photos of the finished product for you to base your work off of. The instruction pages are divided into five sections - Finished Dimensions  Fabric, Supplies, Cutting the Fabric, and Sewing Instructions. Each section tells you in detail what you will need or what to do during your project. There are also instructional photos that you can/will refer to while reading the instructions. Also included on the projects instruction page is information about the items designer and their personal story and tips about about heart disease.

Below are two of my favorite projects that Sew Red Features! I LOVE the "Buttoned Up" place mats which is on my to do list on making next and an absolutely stunning petal dress that features a low cut back! That dress is a must have, I better learn how to sew like a pro quickly!
