{Mommy's Little Miracle} Petunia Pickle Bottom

*Mommy's Obsessions received a complimentary diaper bag for review in exchange for our honest thoughts and opinions*

Today Mommy's Little Miracle is featuring a company that personally is one of my favorites. It's a company that I follow closely and absolutely adore! In need of a stylish, high quality, functional diaper bag? Look no further than Petunia Pickle Bottom!

For years now I have been a die hard fan of Petunia Pickle Bottom bags, and would even consider myself a collector of these pretty little bags. I am in several Facebook groups that are exclusive to the brand, follow their brand closely on social media channels, and have owned and tried out more styles than I care to admit. There is just something about Petunia Pickle Bottom that I can't seem to get enough of!

When I heard they were introducing a new bag style this Fall, I was ecstatic. I couldn't wait to see what they had in mind and after seeing teasers on owner DeNai Jones' Instagram account, I was practically going crazy waiting for the release. Once I got the inside scoop on the new bag, it was instant love. I'm a sucker for a stylish purse and to me the Hideaway Hobo looks like a purse that I would instantly gravitate to in a store, with all of the functionality of a diaper bag.

Are you expecting in 2014? Did you just have your little bundle of joy? Know someone who's pregnant or trying to conceive? Then this event is for you! Alex of Mommy's Obsessions is expecting her second son this October and has created an event that is perfect for expectant mothers! Mommy's Little Miracle is a Pregnancy, Newborn/Early Infancy, and Postpartum event that will be featuring everything from maternity clothing to newborn essentials, to postpartum products you must have! We highly recommend that you bookmark the open giveaway page by clicking on the image below then adding it to your bookmarks bar! About Petunia Pickle Bottom
(As from their website)

"Founded in 2000, Petunia Pickle Bottom has become known the world over as the creator of the original, collectible, fashionable diaper bag. For more than a decade, PPB has been answering the call for stylish, quality products for modern moms on the go. What began as a tiny green shoot of an idea, carefully tended by three likeminded individuals on the California coast, is now a thriving lifestyle brand with global reach. The first glimpse of the initial collaboration was seen with the debut of the now wildly successful Boxy Backpack—an innovative and fashionable reinvention of the once unimaginative diaper bag. With their first collection, Petunia Pickle Bottom introduced the world to a market that simply hadn’t before existed. DeNai Jones, the founding designer and inspiration behind the company’s name (her father gave her the nickname when she was very young) has been the creative force behind the company since its inception. Inspired by travel, architecture, vintage textiles and a desire to bring style and sophistication to the world of modern parenting, Petunia Pickle Bottom’s bold graphic prints have become the signature of their collections, season after season. With these colorfully patterned products and an unrivaled attention to detail and craftsmanship, Petunia Pickle Bottom has become the go-to lifestyle brand for those who want to experience the adventure and joy of modern motherhood."

The Hideaway Hobo is the newest to the collection of Petunia Pickle Bottom and is available in ten different prints, with three different fabric choices - Glazed, Embossed, and Signature Jacquard. The Hideaway Hobo that I chose is an embossed fabric in gray named Champs-Elysees Stop. I became a fan of the embossed fabric line after reviewing the gorgeous Notting Hill Stop Sashay Satchel, so when I saw that that Hideaway Hobo was available in a classic color such as gray, I jumped all over it! To me, this gorgeous diaper bag looks far more like a purse than it does a diaper bag!

The Hideaway Hobo features a zippered pocket right on the front of the bag, which acts as the perfect place for mom to place her "quick grab essentials" such as her cell phone, sunglasses, keys, chapstick,  etc. It is surprisingly spacious as well, I can fit almost my entire hand in the front pocket which I appreciate because as you can tell from the list of items above, I tend to have several things that I qualify as "essentials".

What makes the Hideaway Hobo stand out from the other Petunia Pickle Bottom diaper bags, aside from it's shape of course, is the unique chain straps that this bag features. Although chains are not everyone's cup of tea, they give the the Hideaway Hobo (in my opinion) a stylish upgrade that you won't find on other diaper bags. Ladies who aren't a huge fan of chain, don't fret! Only a small portion of the handles are chain, while the remainder of the 9.5 inch strap drop is made from vegan leather. My only complaint about the straps is that both sides are connected by the chain and I would have preferred for the straps to either be two separate straps, or for the drop of the straps to be a little lengthier so that the bag would open just a bit more (you will see what I mean in the photos to come below).

I will admit that when I received the Hideaway Hobo I was a little weary of the fact that the only closure on this bag is a top magnetic snap closure - I typically am one to gravitate toward bags that zip closed because I am paranoid that something will fall out or that someone can reach into my bag, but I will say that the snap closure does a great job of keeping the bag closed up. I tested my paranoia by tipping the bag over while on a chair and to my excitement, nothing fell out! Now when I held the bag upside down and shook it a little, things came out, but that is of course to be expected and honestly, have you ever seen anyone carry their diaper bag upside down? I sure haven't!

In true Petunia Pickle Bottom fashion, you get a couple of extra's when you purchase your diaper bag! In the Hideaway Hobo they graciously include a Petunia Pickle Bottom embossed wipes case and a plush changing pad that will match your bag. Having become a Petunia Pickle Bottom addict (dare I say) my only wish was that the changing pad was the same as the ones that are included in the Sashay Satchel, which are not plush and have a wipeable exterior on one side, but that is a small complaint and thankfully for those of you who may have the same wish for the changing pad, Petunia Pickle Bottom does offer "replacement parts" to purchase and if you give them a call and are really sweet, they may just let you buy the type of changing pad you want!

So lets talk about organization! Being an avid member of the PPB Facebook groups (not affiliated with Petunia Pickle Bottom) I have heard a lot of feedback from some of the women in the group who have purchased Hideaway Hobo's of their own. There have been some ladies who have said that they dislike the bag because they can't seem to get organized or find what they're looking for when they need it. While I respect their opinions, I personally have to fully disagree. For me, the Hideaway Hobo has the best organization out of any of the other diaper bags that I have tried both on my own and through blog review, and I never have a problem grabbing what I need from the bag because everything seems to have a place. There are four very spacious open pockets (two on each side) and two large bottle pockets in the bag, and as mentioned previously, the zippered pocket on the front of the bag. In my Hideaway Hobo I am able to comfortably pack the following: wallet, coin purse, changing pad, wipes case (with cloth wipes), travel sized spray bottle, makeup bag, hand saniziter, "Wet Ones" wipes, another wipes case (with wet wipes), reusable tissue for Little Mister, 1-2 cloth diapers (one shown below), wet bag, Beginnings Baby Book, and a shopper tote. In addition to those items which are all shown below, I also still have space in my front zippered pocket as well as both bottle pockets. Is my bag full? Absolutely it is, but I'm a heavy packer and my bag is always that full!

You may be wondering about the overall structure of this bag, especially with the name Hobo right in it's name. The "hobo" style of bag typically gives consumers the connotation that the bag is slouchy and a more relaxed style. While this is true of the Hideaway Hobo, I have also found that the bag does have great "posture", if you will, when it is fully packed. The Hideaway Hobo features a flat bottom that gives the bag more of a level surface to help the bag from completely slumping down when it is not being carried, however there is no stiff reinforcement within the bag to keep it standing upright as other Petunia Pickle Bottom bags would. I myself do not mind this because I love the style/look of this bag, however I do wish that they would have added the metal "feet" to the bottom of the bag to help protect the beautiful vegan leather bottom. That being said, it is not a deal breaker for me and I would purchase the bag regardless of if there were "feet" or not.

My overall conclusion to the new Petunia Pickle Bottom Hideaway Hobo is that I absolutely love it. It is by far my favorite style of Petunia Pickle Bottom bags that I have tried, offers me the best organization, and it looks so cute on the shoulder! I have received many compliments on my "purse" and ladies in my town are always shocked when I politely correct them and tell them that it's a diaper bag!

I personally will be purchasing more Hideaway Hobo's and requesting them as gifts from Mr. Hunky when a special occasion arises! While it may not be everyones favorite style, it sure is mine!

    1. Nordstrom's has their PPB anniversary print 50% off until September 7th in both the Hobo and Boxy Backpack. The print has a similar color scheme to London Mist. Also, you can get great deals on new and used ppb on eBay and Facebook. Petunia Pickle Bottom B/S/T and Petunia Blossoms B/S/T are the 2 fb groups that I know of. They are definitely worth the splurge if you can get a good deal!
