Growing up as a a little girl, I loved to sing and dance. Heck, I still love to sing and dance, but it doesn't seem as acceptable to do so randomly in public. If I really wanted to I could, but it's not "cute" like it was when I was a little girl. Growing up in a family that has lots of little kids in it, the one thing I quickly picked up is that all kids love to sing, make up songs, watch sing-a-long movies, listen to music. Music seems to be something that comes natural to everyone, I mean seriously, have you ever met someone who didn't like music? Neither have I.
When Miss Melodee Studios asked me to write a review on their new CD and DVD, Dancing with Miss Melodee, I knew of just the little girl to help me check it out. My friends daughter, we'll call her Little Miss D, is four years old and every time I see her see is happily singing to herself, and she will usually bust out some dance moves along the way. I knew she would love this CD and DVD. Miss Melodee's Dance video has been given a 5 Dove rating from the Dove Foundation and the CD has received two different awards and has also been nominated for the Independent Music Award for Best Children's Album.
Dancing with Miss Melodee's DVD features music videos, dance lessons, and fun interactive songs for children, specifically little girls, ages 2-7. Miss Melodee does a great job at holding the childrens attention, getting them involved with the songs and dance moves, as well as making them smile. As Little Miss D and I watched the movie, her brother Baby C and Baby A were playing on the floor near the TV and even they started watching and bouncing.
For the first ten minutes of the movie, Little Miss D stood and watched quietly, taking it all in and listening to the songs of Miss Melodee. It wasn't long before she was dancing and having an amazing time with the video! Miss Melodee has a very pretty singing voice that really captivates you and makes you want to sing along. It wasn't long before both myself and Little Miss D's momma were singing The Stretching Song along with Miss Melodee! Below is a video of Little Miss D dancing along with Miss Melodee!
After watching the video, we all decided to do some shopping, and the entire time we were getting ready to leave Little Miss D begged and begged for us to turn on the CD for her. She absolutely loved the DVD and couldn't wait to get into the car. Miss Melodee's CD features 10 tracks that the whole family is sure to love. Well, maybe not teenage boys, but you get what I mean! The music is upbeat and bubbly so if Mom, if you enjoy pop music. Before we even hit the freeway I felt myself tapping my foot to the beat and I could see Little Miss D bouncing in her booster seat with a giant smile on her face.
Overall I found Miss Melodee's CD and DVD very enjoyable, I loved that it was interactive for your little one, and I especially loved that it was upbeat and fun and something that a mother could enjoy as well. If you live in Tarzana, CA you're in luck! Miss Melodee Studios offers dance classes for your little one as well as dance, Zumba, and Pilates for mom! Click HERE for the class schedule. If you want to check out the music on the CD prior to purchase, Miss Melodee has a part of her website that is called "World" and you can do interactive activities with your child! It's adorable! Check it out, I bet you'll love The Stretching Song as much as I do!
