*Mommy's Obsessions received complimentary breast pumping products for review in exchange for our honest thoughts and opinions*
Today Mommy's Little Miracle is featuring a company that every pumping mom needs to be familiar with - Ameda!
With the recent insurance changes in 2014, I was lucky enough to receive a complimentary breast pump from my insurance when I became pregnant with Little Boy. I was thrilled because when I had Little Mister, I didn't see the need for a pump and never got one, and when breastfeeding didn't work out for us after a while, I had no where to turn. With Little Boy if feeding directly from the breast doesn't work out, I plan to pump like a mad woman and feed that little guy my breastmilk! The breast pump that I received from my insurance was the Ameda Purely Yours and I will admit that I knew absolutely nothing about it, and wasn't really familiar with the Ameda brand. Once I did a little research, I was thrilled to see that they offered several other wonderful breastfeeding and pumping products and began to follow them on their social media channels.

(As from their website)
"More than 70 years ago, Swedish engineer, Einar Egnell made it his life’s work to help breastfeeding mothers. After years of research, Egnell created the first comfortable and effective breast pump that closely mimics the sucking rhythm of nursing infants. In the process, Egnell also created the vacuum and cycling standards that today’s lactation professionals use to judge breast pump quality. Today’s Ameda breast pumps combined Egnell’s innovative technology with the features a 21st century mother expects. Everything Ameda offers – Ameda breast pumps and products, Ameda breastfeeding education, Ameda’s support of lactation professionals – reflects our passion for breastfeeding. Since 1942, Ameda has been the leading innovator and has delivered unmatched quality and service to lactation professionals, institutions and most importantly, mothers."

Ameda generously sent me a handful of their products to try out including their NoShow Premium Disposable Nursing Pads, their Nursing Bra, their Cool N Carry System which is perfect for pumping and working moms, their ComfortGel Breast Pads, and their Store and Pour system. Although I am not pumping yet, I am extremely excited about all of these wonderful products and have even begun to wear the nursing bra! There are several breast pump brands on the market, but Ameda is at the top of my list!
The Cool 'N Carry is a convenient Breast Milk Storage System that allows for pumping moms to transport their breast milk and keep it cold while they do so. The system includes a storage cooler, three ice packs, and six milk storage bottles (that are of course BPA free). The cooler can hold all six bottles and all three ice packs at once and zips closed easily! The cooler even has a carrying handle to make transporting that much simpler!
While I really love reusable breast pads, it is very handy to have some disposable ones on hand as well. With Little Mister I would always use disposable breast pads when I didn't want to "waste" reusable ones, specifically during that time between my evening shower and bedtime, I would want to go to bed with fresh breast pads on so I would use my disposables during that time!
The Ameda NoShow Premium disposable breast pads are soft and comfortable to wear, and they are individually wrapped so each time you change your breast pads, they are fresh and sanitary!
The ComfortGel Hydrogel Breast Pads are wonderful for moms with sore nipples and provide a cooling relief as soon as you place them in your nursing bra. The ComfortGel Pads can be reused up for up to 6 days if they are properly cared for during the duration of use. They also provide a more plush barrier between your breast and your clothing so that your clothing does not further irritate your sore skin. Although I have not personally used the ComfortGel pads yet I did open them up to get a better feel for them and they seem like they would really soothe a moms sore breast feeding nipples!
The Intimates Nursing Bra is made from a soft stretchy material to give you a comfortable fit, regardless of the amount of milk that your breasts may have in them (whether you have just nursed or are feeling engorged). There is a convenient front strap closure so that you may release one breast at a time while still keeping the other covered as you nurse your child. I am one of those women who personally likes a thicker bra while out and about, but I have already started wearing the Intimates Nursing Bra while around the house and I know that is is going to be a fantastic bra to wear at night - it is extremely comfortable and breathable!
The final product that Ameda generously sent me was the Store 'N Pour Milk Storage Bags which are perfect for pumping moms who are building up a supply for their freezers. Although I am a stay at home mom, I do plan on pumping with Little Boy because there will be times when mommy wants to get away for an hour or two, or when family comes into town and wants that added bonding experience of getting to feed the infant. The Store 'N Pour Milk Storage Bags have a unique tear and pour spout that allows you to easily pour the milk into a bottle without spilling it, which I think is absolutely wonderful!
I absolutely love and appreciate that Ameda is so attentive to pumping moms needs and provides them with everything she may need to provide breast milk for her child! Although I have not gotten to test out my Ameda Purely Yours Breast Pump that my insurance provided, and I am unable to really test majority of the products above, I am still fully confident in recommending the Ameda brand and feel that they're products are high quality and best of all - affordable!
