Pink Zebra Review & Giveaway

There's nothing that I like more than my house smelling delicious. Whether it's watermelon and strawberry scents in the summertime, or pumpkin and cinnamon around the holidays, I absolutely love going from room to room smelling the sweet aroma of the candles burning. But lets face it, candles and toddlers don't really mesh and can cause quiet the anxiety attack, so unless Baby A is asleep, I keep the candle burning at bay. Obviously my sons safety is my priority, but I can't help miss the smell of a candle burning during the day, so that then poses the question, what can I do to change that? Thanks to Pink Zebra, I can now have the sweet, delicious scents throughout the house, without the danger of a candle!

*I received four complimentary Jars of Sprinkles for review in exchange for my honest thoughts and opinions.

Pink Zebra was created by Tom and Kelly Gaines, who after working for a candle manufacturer for over fifteen years, longed to pursue their dream of owning their own business and set off to create a fun, unique, high quality product that would embody their incredible journey in the candle industry.

When Pink Zebra Independent Consultant Jennifer Bowman got into contact with me, inquiring about teaming up to bring you all this fabulous giveaway, I had never heard of Pink Zebra and had no idea what "Sprinkles" were. I bugged Jennifer countless times asking questions and trying to get a feel for how they worked. Pink Zebra's Sprinkes are beads of soft soy wax and fragrance oils that are blended together at highly concentrated levels, delivering up to 50% more scent than a typical candle would.

5 Non-Toy Gift Ideas for Kids

When birthdays or holidays roll around, it's usually a safe bet that your kids are going to get a lot of toys. So if you're looking to give them gifts that won't get lost in the pile of toys they're sure to get from relatives and friends, here's a list of non-toy gifts that have 14-month old L's seal of approval (and that will work for kids who are younger and much older, too.) An added perk of these gifts is that they take up little or no space in your house.

Note: I'm including links for some of these. They're not necessarily products I endorse or have reviewed; they're just added to give suggestions for where you can find some of the gifts.

1. Bird Feeder
A friend in our neighborhood has a bird feeder outside of her playroom window, and the kids love watching the birds and squirrels that stop by, so I decided to get one for L with some money he got for his birthday. Ours hasn't attracted any squirrels yet, but we regularly see cardinals, blue jays, sparrows, mourning doves, a bunch of birds I can't name, and two ducks! L loves watching the birds (he thinks the ducks are especially hilarious.) Our play area windows extend down almost to the floor, so it's easy for L to look out and see the feeder. If your windows are higher, there are bird feeders that stick directly to the window with suction cups so that kids can see the birds even from below the window. (I found a suction cup window bird feeder for $3 at Big Lots last week.) For older kids, you can combine this with a bird book written especially for children (Amazon has a bunch of them here) so that they can identify the birds they see, or you can buy a bird feeder kit so that they can build and decorate it themselves (with adult help, of course.)

Bird feeder tip - Our feeder was up for a week without a single bird visiting it, so a friend suggested that I cover toilet paper rolls in peanut butter, roll them in bird seed, and then hang them in the tree near the feeder. Within 24 hours, our bird feeder was the new neighborhood hot spot for birds.

Sesame Gifts Giveaway {Bonus Giveaway to Celebrate You}

The Thrifty Nifty Mommy Blogger Network has decided that because we have such great, loyal readers, you deserve something special. So today we are Celebrating You one more time! Today with Sesame Gifts.

Sesame is a company that believes happiness comes from experiences, and they want to create great experiences for you in their themed gift boxes. I was recently given the opportunity to choose one of their gift boxes that I felt would be great with Mothers Day approaching.

Choosing the box....well that was the hard part. Sesame offers a variety of boxes, everything from something to welcoming a new baby to cocktail hour can be completed with these unique gifts. Since I was going for a "Mothers Day" box this narrowed my selection down some, but still which direction did I want to go? This is where Sesame really comes alive, they are catering to everyone's wants & desires. Do you want a relaxing evening soaking in the tub, or maybe some great teas to enjoy in the afternoon. The choice is yours! For me, I went with Breakfast in Bed, I love a nice hot breakfast and I love it even more when someone prepares it for me. :)

LD Products $100 Ink Giveaway AND Trip for Two to Hawaii Giveaway!!!!!

While I was a student I was constantly printing. Research, essays, images for projects, you name it, it was being printed out. I quickly learned that the cost of ink is ridiculous and I always dreaded that trip to the office supply store where I would be dropping a decent amount of money on ink. Seriously, it is no fun shopping for ink letting alone spending money on it! I thought that as a parent I would cut back on my ink spending but I haven't...between printing out coloring pages, receipts, and shipping labels, I still buy ink as often as I did in college. Thankfully I was introduced to LD Products and I knew I would be able to cut ink costs immensely!

DIY Spice Sachets

It is spring cleaning time in my house.  Part of this for me is going through my cupboards, cleaning them out and tossing anything past its expiration date.  In doing this I came across some spices that we have had for way too long.

Instead of throwing them out I decided to re-purpose them.  There are many things that one can do withold herbs and spices but this time I have decided to sachets.  This is a super easy project that anyone can do with materials that most of us already have around the house.

First, go through all of your old spices. Find the scents that you like best, and try to determine which ones will smell good together.  I had some cinnamon sticks, which I broke apart. (Careful ñ These things are tough; I cut my finger doing it!)

The Reasons Why I Cloth Diaper by Rebecca

I have two children. I never cloth diapered my oldest, M. I never even thought about doing it. With F., I found there was information on cloth diapering on every email or website about pregnancy that I happened upon. So, I looked in to it to see what all the hype was about. Wow! It's a whole other world! It is a beautiful world of colors and patterns and cute fluffy baby bums. I was sold!
I now use cloth diapers 85% of the time. If we are going to the store or to family's house, I use disposables. I also use disposables at night. Sleeping through the night is important for both me and the baby! :).

Here are the reasons I cloth diaper.

1.) Less exposure to chemicals for my baby.  There are lots of nasty chemicals used to get those disposable diapers to absorb so much and not leak! I had no idea that diapers could contain polyurethane or harmful inks in the cute prints on them.  The less amount of time those chemicals are on my baby's bum, the better!

Whatever I Want To Be by Young Avenue Kids CD Review & Giveaway!

Baby A has been blessed to have found a love for music at an early age. We introduced him to music when he was still in the womb, when I would lay a musical seahorse on my belly for him to listen to every night. When he was big enough to start moving and kicking, the music would provoke him to 'dance' around my belly. Since he was born, music has always been the one thing that could *typically* calm and relax him and to this day he still stops everything he's doing when music starts to play.

*I received a complimentary copy of Whatever I Want To Be for review in exchange for my honest thoughts and opinions.

Young Avenue Kids was created by a woman named Ilana and a group of children who have a passion for music. Young Avenue Kids was name after a street in South Africa where Ilana was born and raised! Whatever I Want To Be is the first CD recording by Young Avenue Kids that features fun and educational songs that are sung in harmony to the music of classical and modern composures.

I was excited to receive a copy of Whatever I Want To Be, because I knew that Baby A would just love it! The CD has a fun, welcoming, fully illustrated cover that looks as though it could be a children's book. The Whatever I Want to Be CD is an Academics Choice Smart Media Award Winner.

Crock Pot Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal

Hi everyone! I thought I would share another super easy (and healthy!) recipe with you all! Now, I know that oatmeal is not a time consuming item to make. But, I will save ANY time I can in the morning. Upon waking, my baby, F., wants to be held by Mommy. ( I think he misses me at night :) ) My oldest son, M., just wants to eat in the morning! And he would like oatmeal. Every. Day. As I have mentioned, we try to avoid grains and refined sugars, so I have been looking for new tricks to entice him. I saw this recipe on Pinterest and decided to tweak it to fit for my family.
 Enjoy!

Crock Pot Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal

First- butter the bottom of the crock pot. This oatmeal will stick to the pot and be a nasty mess! You can use coconut oil or butter.

Slice up two apples and place them in the bottom of the crock pot.

Stranger Anxiety with New Moms

If you are pregnant with your first child or are a new mom (and by new mom, I mean "a mom with less than my whopping 13 months of mom experience"), I am about to let you in on a little secret: complete strangers know more about caring for your child than you do.

I have no idea what I'm doing.
It sounds weird, I know, but it's absolutely true. You're the woman who grew the child in her uterus from a microscopic little blob to a full grown baby whose presence caused your stomach to break out in purple stretch marks that faintly resembled a road map of the United States. Since you first saw two pink lines on a pregnancy test, you've likely spent every waking moment (and many sleeping ones) worrying that you weren't doing EXACTLY the right thing for your child and googling a million variations of "can I use hair spray while I'm pregnant?" And of course that worrying only intensified when your baby was brought, wrinkled and crying, into the world. Or perhaps you adopted your child, and before you ever even learned of her existence, you were spending hours researching the very best way to care for her every need so that you would be ready to be the best mommy humanly possible at a moment's notice. You are probably the only person in the world for whom a description of the color of your baby's eyes requires a minimum of three adjectives. You've spent literally hundreds of hours just staring at your baby (or you will once your baby is born), and just from the pitch and volume of your baby's cry, you can often tell exactly why he is crying in under 30 seconds. But none of that matters. Because complete strangers - people who have never so much as laid eyes on your child until right this second - are the ones who are the experts on what your baby needs.

The Yummiest Muffins Ever.

Baby A is one of the pickiest eaters ever, but one sure thing that I can always get him to eat is a muffin. I've tried to get creative and do hidden veggies within the muffin batter, but he always seems to know, so I figure that fruit muffins are better than nothing. One morning while searching Pinterest I came across muffins that looked so incredibly divine I had to make them right then and there. Guess what? They were delish. You can find variations of these muffins around the web (and Pinterest) with different names such as "French Toast Muffins" or "Cinnamon Sugar Muffins", but I like to call them the yummiest muffins ever.

You can check out the original muffin recipe from TasteBook, or you can continue to read my version below!

DIY Pop Cap Bracelets

I would like to start by first saying that I am so greatful to Alex of Mommy's Craft Obsession for this opportunity.  I have been thinking about starting my own blog for a few months now and then I saw Alex's post and knew that this was the little push that I needed.

My name is Sarah and I am a mommy to two super special kids. My daughter is 11 and my son is 22 months. Now that is a BIG gap (that is always what people say to me....it makes me laugh every time because you have NO idea!). I thought I was one and done and then we got a suprise and what a blessing he has been.  After my son was born in 2011 I quit my job in the banking world and became a stay at home mommy.  I love this new job and journey but I have a great perspective on both sides. It is hard to be a working mom, the struggles of missing things, guilt and work always being there needing more time. It is also hard being a stay at home mom. People think you do nothing as if taking care of kids, home and everyone elses needs it not a FULL time job. So I totally get it! But I would not trade this great time with my kids for anything.  Then there is my husband we have been together for 10 plus years he is my best friend and the person who gets me better than anyone, he makes me laugh when I shouldn't and brings great joy to my life. I wouldn't want to tackle this crazy world with anyone else! Check out my awesome family below this is four generations of love! So now to the good stuff, my blog is new and hopefully will grow with each new friend we make.  It is called Faith Filled Footsteps because that is what I do every day.  I step out into this crazy world with Faith the God knows what he is doing and that what we have is provided by him. He places things in our paths for our growth in him. I raise my children to believe that he is our all and the only thing that we need. So please join us in this crazy journey as we take every day with Faith Filled Footsteps.

DIY Pop Cap Bracelets

We just finished up spring break here and I don't know about you but all I hear from my daughter during school breaks is " I AM BORED!". So we try and find something to do a few days during breaks.  This time we tackled a super fun project a pop cap bracelet.  My daughter saw these on Etsy and they were $8.00-$13.00. Now I don't know about you but my budget does not allow for kids jewelry in this price range. So we set out to make one. We tried a few that ended up terrible but here is the one we ended up making and my daughter loved.  In fact my 23 year old sister wanted one too!

What you will need:

Ribbon of your choice (thinner is better)
18-26 pop caps
tape
scissors

To start off take the ribbon and wrap it around your wrist 4 times this is to allow for the proper length.  Fold the ribbon in half to find the middle. Once you have the center take a few pieces of tape  and tape in to your working surface tightly (you will be pulling on this so tape it down good, I used 3 or 4 pieces).

Easy, Raw Cookie Dough Bites

Hey Guys, it's Rebecca!

I LOVE sweets.  I really really do.  I am worse than a little kid.  If I want something sweet, I am a bear until I get it.  That is not something I am proud of.  Since my husband and I decided to be more wary of what products we use around the house as far as chemicals and other nasty things, we also made a choice to eat more natural and organic.  So, no more cookies and breads and sweets that not only do I love to eat, but I loved to bake as well.  And, I might add, I am a really good baker!

This change leads me to this recipe.  It whips up super fast and really curbs my sugar mania episodes! So here it is!

Ingredients:

2/3 cup raw almonds
2/3 cup raw walnuts
2/3 cup gluten free rolled oats
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/8 tsp sea salt
1/4 cup of raw agave nectar (I used honey)
2 tsp pure vanilla extract
3 TBSP raw cacao nibs or dark chocolate chips (organic)

The Great Cloth Diaper Change with Enkore Kids

It's here! The day of The Great Cloth Diaper Change has arrived! Did you attend? I hope so! The cloth diapering members of the Thrifty Nifty Mommy Blogging Network have partnered up with Enkore Kids to bring you a really fun giveaway to celebrate!

As you already know, I am a HUGE fan of cloth diapers! In fact, I sort of get a little giddy over cloth diapers...how nerdy is that?! I'm super excited to bring you this giveaway! <3 MCO.

Celebrate You with Amana

My husband and I bought our first home (a townhouse) a little over 3 years ago. Like any new homeowner buying a previously-lived-in home, there were a number of things I wanted to change about the home after we moved in. And, like many new homeowners, we quickly ran out of time and finances to make all the changes we had envisioned. One of the projects that got sidelined was a kitchen makeover. The appliances that came with the house worked, so they stayed.  While this was a financial blessing, it was also disappointing.

Although all of the appliances in our home could use an upgrade, the one I disliked the most was our electric range.  It was the cheapest model available, for the cheapest brand on the market, and it certainly showed.  Yes, it did work.  However, it was slow - really, really slow.  It would take FOREVER for the oven to preheat, and even longer for a pot of water to boil! But, I could deal with those things.  What I could not deal with was the coil elements and drip pans!  When I cook, I tend to make a horrible mess which means my range becomes a horrible mess.  I'm a bit of a clean freak when it comes to the kitchen, so I'd have to clean the drip pans after each use.  Despite constant cleaning, the range and drip pans never really looked all that clean and I would turn green with envy any time I visited another home with a beautiful, sleek glass cooktop range.

You can imagine my excitement (complete understatement) when I found out that I was going to have the chance to review the Amana 4.8 cu. ft. Self-Cleaning Electric Range.  I was beyond thrilled! Finally, I was getting the glass cooktop range I'd dreamed about!!

My Favorite Features:

As you might have imagined, my absolute favorite feature is the glass-ceramic cooktop! Every night after dinner I'm able to clean and shine my range back to good-as-new status. It's so easy to clean the cooktop!  Once it's cool, just use a little spray cleaner, wipe it off, and you're done! About once a week, or if there happens to be burnt food on the range, I will use special cooktop cleaner. The brand I currently use is Afresh, which came as a sample with the range, along with a small scrubbing pad, and they work great.   I love not having to purchase new drip pans every week. The glass-ceramic cooktop should become standard for all electric ranges!

The cooktop features 4 heating elements; two 6" and two 10" elements.  The 10" elements are wonderful for heating larger pots or frying pans.  There's a good deal of space between the elements too which is especially nice when you're utilizing all four elements at once.  They also heat up really quickly and seem to distribute the heat more evenly.

Another major benefit of this range is the cooking time!  This range not only boils my water faster, it preheats in half the time of my old oven AND it cooks food more evenly thanks to Amana's Temp Assure Cooking System. Whether I'm fixing food on the cooktop or baking it in the oven, it just turns out better... and in a shorter amount of time!

At 4.8 cu. ft capacity, there is plenty of room inside the oven to bake our favorite meals.  There are 2 wire racks that can be adjusted in 5 different positions.  This Amana range also features a self-cleaning function that can be adjusted based on the soil level of your oven!   Amana has even added a delay bake option which can really come in handy.  Now, I can set the timer and the food will be ready when I want it to be!   And, if I'm not quite ready, there is a great keep warm setting that will maintain the temperature of our food without cooking it any further.

The oven has an extra large oven window.  It's completely clear and when the light is turned on, you can see the food baking inside very well.  The light on my previous oven was so dim that I could barely see if there was even food inside!  With the Amana range, I can see the food SO clearly without having to open the door and letting all the heat out.   As you can see, my little ones also LOVE watching their favorite food as it bakes in the Amana oven.  Especially, when pizza is on the menu!

The controls on the Amana range are super user friendly.  I didn't even need to check the instruction manual to figure out how to set the clock or use any of the other features.  I love the indicator lights that tell you if the cooktop is on or if the surface is still hot.

The storage drawer on the Amana range is really roomy and offers plenty of room for all of my baking sheets.

I've been using my Amana Electric Range for a month now and I'm in love! It's everything I hoped it would be and so much more. I could not be happier with this range and I'm sure we'll be using it for many years to come.

I know after reading this review you'd LOVE a new Amana Electric Range for your house too. The range I reviewed has a MSRP of $599.99. It is also available in white at that same price, or Stainless Steel with a MSRP of $699.99. See Amana's full line of appliances and find out where you can buy them by visiting their website, liking them on Facebook, and following them on Twitter.

Celebrate You with Whimsy Lane Apparel

Today the Thrifty Nifty Mommy Blogger Network is celebrating moms in the 'Celebrate You' Pre Mother's Day Event hosted by Mommy's Craft Obesession with a Whimsey Lane Apparel Review & Giveaway!

Whimsey Lane Apparel is for young girls and women who want to be beautiful, chic, and modest! They have quality clothing that does not require layers for comfort, which is their goal!

Do you find it hard to find modest dresses these days? Dresses that are not low cut at the neck/chest and short in length showing too much leg? I personally do not love to dress shop, just because with my body type I don't like form fitting, and sometimes that seems to be the only kind of dress I can find. I don't want any dresses or skirts that are too short and I especially have a harder time with the "top" area (if you know what I mean).  When I came across Whimsey Lane Apparel, I became excited that they had cute, affordable, modest dresses!

Celebrate You with Sexy Modest Boutique

Several years ago when the Lord grabbed a hold of my life my views on so many things changed. One of those things was the way I dressed.  So over the past few years I have fought the battle of finding clothes that look great, but yet keep the things I want covered, covered. :)

It seems that anymore shirts are cut so low you have to constantly wear a tank under them if you don't want anything falling out. Pants are also cut so low that most of the time, that same tank top will not keep your back and possibly a little more from showing when you bend over. The more conscious I get about what I wear the more frustrated I become.  Just the other day my hubs sent me out for a few hours of "me time" , he said , "go do some shopping, buy yourself some clothes or something". Well, it was awfully sweet of him..but I came home and said "well, I didn't buy anything for me, but I got a few things for the kids". That's how it typically goes anymore...not that I didn't look for me , I just got frustrated real quick!

One day a few months ago when I was browsing Facebook I stumbled upon a fabulous page, I quickly fell in love with the little store that it belonged to. The store is called Sexy Modest Boutique. The name is what drew me in,and then I fell in love with their styles immediately! I am a mother of 3, but I am also a wife and I desire to look nice for my husband...after 3 kids I feel anything but sexy most of the time..but when I have a great outfit on I feel confident , and confidence can be beautiful! I am not the girl who feels confident with a lot of skin showing.

Real Parenting By

Sometimes I think we as parents get caught up in what we think parenting "should" look like.  You know, like what we have read in books and seen on the big screen in hundred of movies.  Well, it isn't like that.  At least, not in my world.  I have two sons, M. is 5 years old and F. is 1.  And there are very few times times that our days do not involve some sort of melt downs and temper tantrums.  (They are mostly mine) But anyway, we as a society, are lead to believe that being a parent is an experience that involves hugs and kisses and running through fields and lovely trips to the market and sitting down to wonderfully prepared meals where everyone talks about how wonderful their days were.  Well, I am here to tell you, that is a fallacy.
